Re: bypass spamassassin on ongoing messages

Here is a little tutorial for how you do it. Its actually pretty simple: Plesk's qmail does not set the mail header "ESMTOA" correctly as per RFC3848 (http://www.fehcom.de/rfc/rfc3848.txt). To get around this you can create your own spamassassin custom rule to detect your own mail server t...

Improve apache performance

There are a lot of things you can do to improve the performance of apache2 on a stock plesk box. Here are some things that I would recommend tweaking to get more from apache: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf Turn KeepAlives on and adjust the keppalive timeout # # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persist...

cheap rsync mirror

I've actually set up a pretty cheap mirror of one of my plesk boxes. Basically I rsync the whole server (excluding network interface configs and mysql data directories, etc). Since you can't reliably rsync mysql I have mysql running using mysql replication as a slave on the mirror box. So far everyt...

Update

O.K. I took the plunge and enabled it on one of our production servers. So far I'm pretty impressed!! It only took me around 15 minutes to set up .. all the options are pretty straight forward. I'm using some of the RBL and GreyListing options ... I love the fact that with the spamdyke RBL authentic...

Yes that's what I was thinking. I've wanted to use greylisting but for some clients the mail delay is unacceptable for them. Being able to turn it on per domain would be great. Scott do you know if spamdyke would interfere with spammassin? Would it be safe to run both at the same time .. or would th...

spamdyke

Anyone here use spamdyke? Check it out here: http://www.spamdyke.org/ It has a huge amount of spam filters and doesn't require you to change qmail at all. Its sits in from of qmail doing most of the dirtywork. Basically you just edit your xinet.d smtp_psa file ... What I thought was cool is that it ...

distributed security scanner

Scott if I remember correctly you had posted that you were using a security tool like rkhunter , but it was setup as a client / server model where the security clients would scan all the servers and log everything to a centralized server. Do you have a link to that project again?

ok , thanks ! That clears things up a lot ! Once more question though. So will the clamav virus scanner work without qmail-scanner? Also if I remove psa-spamassassin does that mean my users will not have per user spam control (I have the plesk SpamAssassin Anti-Spam addon from plesk)? Basically I wa...

psa-spamassassin vs art's spamassassin

I am just setting up a new mail server and have installed arts repos and I did: yum install spamassassin clamav qmail-scanner qmail-scanner-reconfigure yum install dcc pyzor razor-agents pyzor discover So now I see that I have both psa-spamassassin and arts spamassassin installed. Should I use the p...
