Re: Need to harden Plesk 8.3

I'm confused. How can you still be running Plesk 8?

I understood that Plesk (Parallels) would be cancelling all the old licenses, and all control panels would stop working.

(my ISP told me this; which is why I dumped Plesk)

I found the way to harden Plesk, was to remove it and install Virtualmin.

SOLUTION: Dump PLESK, use Virtualmin-GPL, problems solved: http://www.webmin.com/virtualmin.html

Re: Ways to upgrade Plesk 8.6.0 to 9.5.4

Hey Scott, Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the atomic.sh, then edited the DISABLE_PLESK=yes on line 363 to be: DISABLE_PLESK=no Then installed atomic.sh, and got both the atomic and plesk repos. Then did a yum update and yum upgrade... RESULT: - I ended up with both psa-8.6.0 and psa-9.5.4 both i...

Ways to upgrade Plesk 8.6.0 to 9.5.4

Atomic Team, I've been trying to upgrade my Plesk 8.6.0 test-bed to 9.5.4 using the /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/autoinstaller utility. It just makes a mess (kills mysql, destroys httpsd, deletes includes and conf files) Anyway, is there a way to upgrade using yum and the atomic repos instead??? Thx!! ...

Ok, thx, I've deleted 37 of those /test/ folders that contained the test.fcgi (and a 100 other things).

Hopefully tomorrow at 7am all will be well.

Re: GootKit

Oh, sorry, I realize now, you meant remove the IFMODULE lines (I removed all of them)

Ok, I put these back

ClamAV on
ClamLocalSocket /tmp/clamd.socket
ClamMaxSize 20 Mb

and immediately clamd went 100% CPU... I hope it calms down soon...

Re: GootKit

Scott, thanks for the reply... I found that my clamd wasn't running... the ownership in /var/log/clamav was wrong (owned by user "clam" instead of "clamav") so I've fixed that, clamd is now running. Also noticed that this was missing from /etc/proftpd.conf <IfModule mod_clamav.c>...

Re: GootKit

I had to do all of the following to get rid of the GootKit Perl Scripts: 1) stop all hosting (httpd daemons) 2) remove all cron jobs referencing them (run "crontab -u username -r -i" on each user until they're all gone) 3) remove all bad perl scripts from /var/www/vhosts/*/cgi-bin folders ...

I've started seeing dozens of Perl scripts in my /var/www/vhosts/*/cgi-bin folders... PROBLEM: They replicate, owned by the ftp user, and add themselves to users' CRONTAB entries. I've search the internet; found I should change all FTP passwords, delete the offending Perl scripts, remove the CRONTAB...
