Hey, you dont start the manager via "omp" but "openvasmd". If you have installed openvas from the atomicorp you can start the manager with "systemctl start openvas-manager". Same for "openvas-scanner" and "gsad". Just follow the instruction from Mike...

If yes, does someone know which authentication methods work? (ldap, ldap_connect, ...)

Does the Atomicorp just provide the Main OpenVAS (6, 7, updates or is there a way to get even the Patches?
I have some problems with my OpenVAS 7 Version but there are newer Versions which should solve the problems.
