Load peak ...

Unread post by kilgore »

Hello,

I just optimized my two RH9 server by doing setting httpd.conf and my.cnf value.

The load is now quite better but I'm still having load peak 2 or 3 times per hour.

I don't know if it's dangerous or not.

I guess it comes from the Apache restart. Maybe I'm false...

You can have a look to my stats here :

http://www.cineteck-france.net/HotSaNIC ... /load.html (P4 2.4 Ghz - 1 Go RAM - 200 domains)
http://www.cluster-cineteck.com/HotSaNI ... /load.html (Celeron 2 Ghz - 512 Mo RAM - 100 domains)

Hope you could me :)

Best regards,

Kilgore

Load isnt necessarily bad, you can have very high load and a more responsive system, than a system with no load at all. Generally load is a factor of disk IO, and the time a process sits waiting for time on the CPU.

Thanks Scott for your opinion on the question !

The server load increase of 2 points (from 1 to 3 and from 2 to 4) on each machine from 4pm to 10pm when there's load of visitors on the hosted web site.

that can either be good or bad depending on the context and what the system is doing. Thats really the kind of thing youve got to see first hand to get a grip on
