plesk restore disaster

Unread post by marcos »

Hello,
my problems with plesk are going on ....

I had to restore a full system dump from a 7.5.3 server to an identical one.

Well, abot 50% sites as simply disappeared!

It resotored succesfully mail, database crono....everything BUT httpdocs files!!

I tried many times also single domain resotring but same result: httpdocs files are missing!

I'm loosing hundreds customers because of this joke (i think plesk is a joke itself ...).

Someone had same problems? backup seems not to work on 7.5.3 is it true? Is there some bit i miss??

Thanks
scott

First thing you should do the second you read this is to back up /var/lib/psa, this contains a running 7 day backup of your PSA database. What you can try doing is go in to mysql, drop your psa and horde dbs, then restore that backup and try running the psa tools websvrmng, etc to have it regenerate the config files.

That is what I generally do to fix internal PSA breakage, but if the problem is with the data itself for the domains being missing, thats a deeper problem. Can you tell us more about what happened?

I made a dump and note that in log file *no errors*!!
The i put the dump on a new server and run resotre

psarestore -m maps -s shell -d domain -f dump

where:
maps is IP maps
shell is shell maps
domain contain the domain i need to restore

Well, the restore start and *no errors* in log file.

After all I see restored all directories (mail, /vhosts/domain structrue) but httpdocs is empty!

Strange fact is that statistics are missing, file/dir permission are changed (dir chmod 700).

I don't know what to think about :-(

I'm testing the restore on a test server ... i am trying all kind of solutions but nothing. httpdocs files are not restored !

We looked into this dump. Unfortunately hosting data path is empty for the domain for some reasons:

....

Content-Type: application/x-dir
Content-Encoding: gzip
Content-Id: 1aa1ab642971cbcdea82f4766454cfe8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

<IT SHOULD BE THERE>

I made 2 dumps .... same problems on each dump!!
