[atomic-testing] mysql 5.1.50-2

Unread post by scott »

Two major changes in the -2 development release of Mysql 5.1.50. It was mentioned in the changelog in 5.1.49 that the innodb plugin was now considered GA quality. This has now been enabled as well as the partition plugin (presumably this allows you to write your databases to a raw disk, rather than on top of the filesystem). The latter change in this release is just a resync with Fedora's design. Normally this isnt a big deal, but it appears that the Fedora branch has dropped the cluster module, and updated the init scripts.

Things to test in this branch:
1) init scripts on all platforms
2) Upgrade events will now restart mysql, this *could* be unreliable in high transaction mysql environments.
3) innodb & partition plugins
4) mysql clustering. Unlike fedora, this was *not* removed in the atomic build. So it is still supported in theory.

To upgrade:
yum --enablerepo upgrade mysql

Been using the innodb plugin for a few days now without issue.

Thanks
