(Scott said (above) that Interworx was one of the "ideal" ones; PSA/INTERWORX/WEBMIN)

I compared prices to upgrade my existing Plesk 8.6.0 server... buying was always better than leasing...

Over 5 years, Interworx was cheapest... (the extra $100/year was Interworx support updates fee)

Mmm... tempted to pop a clean hard drive in office file server this weekend and check it out... Is there anything particular to know or a special approach for a CentOS/ASL/Atomic/Interworx set-up?

Interworks doesnt offer though a migration tool for Plesk 10 servers though. So migration isn't an option. At least not an easy one.

Scott, would it be possible to get some support if one went ahead and tested ASL and Interworx?

From us, absolutely. License wise the +1 Dev and +1 QA licenses already cover it, so just set up a interworx test box and install ASL on it.

For migrations, I know this isnt a complete solution or anything like that, but imapsync could handle the email at least.

I would like to mention that imapsync can't be installed due to a repo conflict. I have opened a ticket for that and mentioned it here as well but this hasn't been fixed. :(

I would to thank you that for giving us the change to use ASL for testing. I am pretty sure I am one of the guys that you are bored see installing test ASL's all the time :P

Mike/Scott, what about KLOXO?

http://www.lxcenter.org/software/kloxo/
http://wiki.lxcenter.org/Kloxo+Installation+Guide

Used to be LXADMIN; claim they are 100% RPM compatible/compliant... now free/opensource...

Do you know if it is compatible with ASL?

I'M THINKING YES...

They say to download their installer.sh from http://download.lxcenter.org/download/k ... staller.sh
  • the installer.sh downloads kloxo-install.zip
  • kloxo-install.zip contains .PHP files, that contain things like:
  • yum lxcenter-updates
  • /etc/yum.repos.d/lxcenter.repo (below)
#
#LxCenter RPM Repository (/etc/yum.repos.d/lxcenter.repo)
#
[lxcenter-updates]
name=%distro%-$releasever - LxCenter Updates
baseurl=http://download.lxcenter.org/download/u ... $basearch/
gpgcheck=0
enabled=1
protect=1

AND OH THE INTERFACE IS SO SO NICE... FREE... OPENSOURCE... WOW!!!

Kloxo seems to be very very cool. I am planning to test it very very soon. And the critics I have read on the net about kloxo are encouraging.

Seems sometimes free can be better than paied both in stability and functionality. While we pay parallels and they give us PaaS (Problems as a Service).

I was up to upgrade plesk from 10.3.1 to 10.4.4.

I stoped when I read some things.
I read that in plesk 10.4.x autobackup doesn't work. And I also read in some topic here that there is an issue with qmail folder permissions.
It also worries me the fact that they will change the dns zones. Has anyone found out what exactly they change ? They do not provide good documentation for that.

All of our Plesk 10 servers are running 10.4.4, but I don't know of any qmail folder permission problems.

I also don't know of any DNS zone changes. What did you read?

They say that now they create a dns zone for every subdomain. Is this true ?
I use external dns servers and I am afraid that an update to plesk 10.4.x might break my dns ...

If you use external DNS servers instead of the one that comes with Plesk than Plesk's DNS behavior doesn't matter, right?

I use a custom script that reads from the psa database and then I update my external servers. If they have changed that this might cause unpredicted problems.

I have allready contacted the asl guys. I was very busy and still haven't sent documentation. I will soon notify mike and scott so maybe they can add this functionality to ASL.
I was sick with the fact that cpanel "needs" its own distro in order to have external dns servers and plesk doesnt even have.

Can someone send me from plesk 10.4.4 the dns tables of psa database or help me check it myself ? Plesk doesn't share in any documentation their changelog. They only state they now add zones for subdomains. No details given ...
