Is there a way to get to phpmyadmin through a normal plesk setup without having to go through the control panel and clicking through all the options?

yea, install it separately from plesk and change to http authentication in config.

Thanks, that was pretty straightforward. I'm still feeling my way around the linux OS as it's been about 8 years since I've used it regularly. I hadn't considered that because phpmyadmin is all php based that multiple installations is a pretty trivial thing to do.

Anyway, that worked out really well/easily.
