Autoincrement lost during Mysqldump

I recently used atomicrocketturtle to upgrade to mysql 4.1.15. I'm having problems restoring mysqldumps from an old server (also running mysql 4.1.15). The autoincrements seem to be completely lost (lots of mysql 1062 errors).

One week ago we had the same problem with this version of mysql. We have restored the mysql data map from the backup. 2 days of work is gone. thats not very nice.

We are interested what the problem is?
