5.2 and 5.3
5.2 and 5.3
I'm not terribly clear on what's happening with ART php 5.2 and 5.3. If Nucleus has 5.3 and is paid-for, where do the 5.2 and 5.3s in Panda come into the equation?

Re: 5.2 and 5.3
5.2 will end up in nucleus along with 5.3 soon, as an SCL package only (5.3 is both SCL and Regular). There a ton of fixes pending in it still (hundreds possibly!)
And we're looking at an SCL 5.1 next, assuming that there is interest.

Scott:
Is the Panda version of PHP 5.2.x only for Plesk systems?
Was curious if it could be used on any RPM system if there was a system that couldn't update due to a specific software package.
Would be good to have an updated build with the fixes if a system needed to run 5.2.x for some reason.
Thanks.

Re: 5.2 and 5.3
Great question, It should install on anything, even cpanel or directadmin. The only plesk-centric thing in there is that if it is installed on a plesk box, it will add the entries to the plesk config automatically.
Re: 5.2 and 5.3
Great, thanks for the response.
Is there an ETA for when 5.2 will be in nucleus?

One more 5.2 related question, can the Panda version of 5.2 run as a DSO? I seem to recall mention of fcgi but don't recall if that was in the context of Plesk.
On a straight rpm system, we'd want to run the Panda version in place of the stock PHP so was wondering if that would be an issue if we ran it via DSO.
Thanks.

Re: 5.2 and 5.3
Yes, its possible according to the management structure for the SCL system:
http://dev.centos.org/centos/6/SCL/docs/
So you could replace the installed DSO with the SCL (5.2-5.6) DSO through that. The only limitation is that you cant run multiple php DSO's at the same time.
Related to this, I have a method to expand PHP Panda to support multiple FCGI daemons running at the same time too.

Is 5.2 still slated for nucleus? If so, is there an ETA?
Thanks.
