ART MySQL RPMs broke Plesk?

Unread post by blueiris »

Running FC2, with Plesk 7.5 Reloaded. Just upgraded mySQL and PHP using yum, and now receive the following error when attempting to access my Plesk login page:
ERROR: Unable to connect to database: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) 0: /usr/local/psa/admin/auto_prepend/auth.php3:81 psaerror(string "Unable to connect to database: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)")
HELP! I don't know what to do from here.

This can happen when mysql is upgraded or stopped incorrectly. If you run /usr/bin/safe_mysqld it will recreate the sock file and restart mysql for you.

Oh boy, tried that, got the following:
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
then it hung and never gave back a command prompt.

BUT IT WORKED!! Got the Plesk login page back. Now we'll see if anything else went wrong.

I'm beginning to hate Linux/Plesk. Given me too much gray hair!
