Plesk 8.2 Qmail Changes
Hi Scott,
I just noticed after upgrading to Plesk 8.2 that it breaks the qmail-scanner support that your package provides and as a result leaves the mail server with no virus scanning, the detail in the logs and how qmail logs is different too... not sure what they've done.
Any ideas??

proftpd / pam timeout issues.
Hi all, For some reason which I can't fathom, proftpd seems to be screwed. When I ftp to the server as a real user (non-plesk) the ftp session runs just fine. /var/log/secure May 29 12:32:27 quack proftpd: pam_unix(proftpd:session): session opened for user tony by (uid=0) May 29 12:32:27 quack proft...

Hi, The slow response behaviour from SMTP can also be caused by too many RBL's in your RBL list or if one of your RBL servers is having a bad day and being slow to respond. I've seen this on a few occasions with my own servers. Obviously, when there's an inbound SMTP connection, the RBLs have to be ...

Hi, I'm probably missing something here, but this isn't any kind of exploit that I can see.... it's how SMTP works?? Like Scott said, this is no different to telneting to ports 80 to check that the webserver is working, to 110 to check that the POP server is working. If you have to authenticate to c...

Hiya, No definitely not a Virtual Server. If auditing is not compiled into the kernel I'll log a bug with 1 and 1 since I'm using their standard kernel. However, I upgraded to FC5 from their standard FC4, I suppose that the original kernel might be compiled against an audit lib that is no longer pre...

loginuid and crond errors
Hi Guys, I've googled for this one quite a bit and not really found a definitive answer. The logs on the 1and1 Plesk 8.1.1 server I use fill up with: crond[31581]: pam_loginuid(crond:session): set_loginuid failed opening loginuid Looking at the frequency, it seems to tie in with the mailman list cro...

??? Mine still works. Don't be impressed with me, be impressed with the dude that owns the link I pasted in my first post, he's the smart one. Also it was on a brand new box. I'd be loathe to try FC5 to FC6 now that the equipment is production live. The saftey net obviously with a brand new server ...

Logwatch seems to be hanging when trying to inject the result into the mailq using sendmail -t ... is there some special Kung Foo to make logwatch and qmail play nicely?
