Question about OSSEC

Hi, I was wondering if there is a src rpm for ossec you provide available? Is it easy to change the following => http://www.ossec.net/doc/faq/ossec.html#can-an-ossec-manager-have-more-than-256-agents into the src rpm or normal rpm? We are running +500 agents and need this option and don't want to us...

OpenVAS package broken - missing dependency

I am trying to install OpenVAS 6 with the Atomic repo on a CentOS 6 64 bit box and it fails: ---> Package openvas-libraries.x86_64 0:6.0.0-6.el6.art will be installed --> Processing Dependency: libksba.so.8(KSBA_0.9)(64bit) for package: openvas-libraries-6.0.0-6.el6.art.x86_64 --> Processing Depende...

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

Hi Scott,

RHEL 5(8) x86_64.
Using only RHEL Base and your atomic repo:

[vanesmic@prod-vulnscan-001 ~]$ rpm -qa | grep libmicrohttp
libmicrohttpd-0.9.7-1.el5.art

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

Attempted to install and GSAD does not start. On checking in gsad.log I see gsad main:CRITICAL:2011-03-23 16h37.28 utc :30903: main: MHD_start_daemon failed! and port 9392 is never bound to. The only other message I see was Starting greenbone-security-assistant: MHD HTTPS option 8 passed to MHD com...

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

I have a small question about the plugin wapiti and w3af, both are installed from Atomic but fail to do actual scanning. Wapiti gives me an error: [root@vps500 ~]# wapiti Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/wapiti", line 38, in ? lan.configure() File "/usr/lib/python2.4/...

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

All is solved now :)
I fixed it by the kind help of the OpenVAS people via IRC, creating a new scan target through the interface and click twice sometimes fixed it for me :)

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

Can I fix it by rpm -e nmap and exclude the nmap package from atomic and install the centos version?
I really need the SSL version/weak ciphers checking working so I can show that OpenVAS easily can compete with Nessus at my company.
Or is there an other way of fixing the SSL checking method?

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

if I get it correctly the client is now the openvas manager? it can give commands to openvas-server and GSA is the web based interface for that. Question for Scott: if I am correct I can not do the following: change the scanning configuration or do SSL weak cipher checking because of a bug in NMAP ?...

Re: [atomic] Openvas 4.x Updates

Ok, then I have to wait for the nmap fix. Do you know if I can create a scan without uding gsa? And do I only have to run the openvas-nvt-sync-cron or do I also need to update the tadk.db file?
