I forgot about that. I should have checked to see if I could run it from my other 1&1 box first. I can--at least up until the Ctrl-C part, and thank heavens you have that in there! Calling 1&1 now.

Unable to connect to Atomicorp from 1&1 server

I have a new server at 1&1 that I'm trying to run AOOI on. It seems unable to connect with the Atomicorp server. Can't even ping it. Even after doing a quick iptables -F.

I can ping it from my home PC, and my crash-and-burn test server here runs AOOI just fine.

Any thoughts?

Fortunately, it's the test box, so it's no biggie to wipe it and start over. Just wondered if it was something that had come up before. Thanks!

libphp4.so problem

Rebuilding my test box today, I'm unable to get httpd to start due to an issue with libphp4.so. Fresh install of FC3, updated yum, python, and kernel. After restarting I updated everything else. Finally, I installed Plesk using yum. PSA hung as I was setting things up, so I restarted. Now I see the ...

I, for one, sure would appreciate such an article. My new box there has been up for three weeks and the stupid miniscule /var partition is 68% full as of this morning. Just where the hell do they think logs, caches, mail and databases are supposed to go? I was going to do something with symlinks, bu...

All I know is that two years ago when up2date told me there was a new kernel and I let it update, the box wouldn't boot and I had to have it re-imaged. Fortunately, I hadn't moved clients to it yet. This was back in the day when that process involved phoning support followed by endless faxing rather...

Those will keep you in good shape with regard to Plesk, some essential packages it relies on, and Scott's stuff. On my boxes, I also use the Fedora Legacy repositories http://www.fedoralegacy.org/download/ which have OS updates for FC3 and older, back to RH7.2. An additional generally trusted reposi...

I notice that there are a number of posts that warn you to exclude the "kernel*" when updating your /etc/yum.conf file. Is this still a requirement when working on a 1and1 root server? Yes. As I understand it, this is primarily due to customizations to facilitate the "Recovery Consol...

I remember reading, and experiencing, that if you let Plesk update itself it will reinstall MySQL too, to an older version That's not been my experience, nor have I heard or read anything along that line. Not that I'm a definitive source, mind you. my Yum subscriptions are for Plesk 7.5 and for ART...

I see there are a number of updates in Plesk updater since I did this. Not for Plesk as a whole, but for various components. I know I can't use Plesk updater to update the entire Plesk platform, Why not? Unless you're meaning "for the entire server", then, no it won't. It can update the P...

Can't send mail after installing qmail-scanner

I'm running Plesk 7.5.4 under FC2. This is a new server I'm setting up to replace my current one. I installed clamd and qmail-scanner using yum. Since then, no mail from that server. I went in and ran logwatch from the prompt and got this error message: qmail-inject: fatal: qq temporary problem (#4....
