Why wouldnt you check the settings on any piece of software before you use it? If you just install something and reboot, then you deserve whatever happens to your system. You always check the settings of anything you install before you use it.

You dont have to disable CPHulk, but ive found i dont need it. CPHulk is a little less secure imo because it wont block the attacker, it just prevents them from logging in. Thats not enough for me i prefer to block an attacker so they cant do other things to my customers systems.

3) ASL requires a kernel upgrade, system admins are often reluctant to making big changes to a running system (it takes time and if something goes wrong it can get expensive). what makes you think asl has anything to do with this? it looks like your hosting company said this was being caused by cpanel iptables. have you even contacted cpanel support?

You're hosting company says iptables is using up most of your memory? I dont think they know what they are talking about, iptables doesnt use memory, its just a tool, it runs, it quits. if this helps, we had issues with Virtuzzo too, as its support for iptables seems incomplete (before ASL). We constantly ran into issues with modules either missing or the host server was just bloody out of date. Might that be what's happening to you?
