I've seen a few posts on the Magento forum from people that also have problems like this. I would check there as well if you haven't already.

Any suggestions for something that can generate some stats from qmail-scanner? I found http://sourceforge.net/projects/qss/ but it appears to no longer be actively developed. Does it still work? Are there any other options out there?

I was also having this same problem and changed this setting to:

my $spamc_binary='/usr/bin/spamc -t 60";

However, if I ever run qmail-scanner-reconfigure it gets set back to 30. Is there a place I can change it so it is more permanent?
