FUSE and mount

Unread post by faris »

I'm so close and yet so far from getting fuse s3fs to work for me.

I know a few people here use fuse, so I'm hoping someone might be able to help me get past the final hurdle. Google, for once, is unable to supply the solution.

Basically, when I try to mount a bucket using s3fs, I get an error involving

Code: Select all

bin/mount: unrecognized option '--no-canonicalize'
Google is able to tell me that the problem, in a nutshell, is that the version of mount from util-linux supplied with Centos 5 does not support "--no-canonicalize" and the latest version of fuse insists on using that option.

Google then goe on to suggests two ways to get around this:

1) Upgrage the version of mount being used. Errr..right. I'm not sure I want to fiddle with such a crucial set of system utils. Mount is from util-linux.

2) Use an earlier version of FUSE. I tried going down from 2.8.6 to 2.8.3 but that didn't help, even though a post on a forum somewhere suggested it should.

So I'm back to square one.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
