I pulled a dodo move today and accidentally deleted CTID 1 when it would not let me set the IP correctly.
Can anyone tell a rookie how to install CTID 1 on Virtuozzo 4.7 for Linux?
Does this help me: http://kb.parallels.com/113071
I spent all day recovering a failed RAID 1 configuration and my brain was zapped of what little excessive knowledge that it has.
Faris?
Missing Virtuozzo PVAgent and Node
Re: Missing Virtuozzo PVAgent and Node
Right. Um....
Parallels has confused the hell out of me by renaming things:
http://kb.parallels.com/112297
If CT1 is related to PVAgent then http://kb.parallels.com/113071 appears to be the correct KB for this problem.
On my systems, CT1 exists when I use vzlist but otherwise isn't shown (i.e. not in any Management Console or any type) and I can't "vzctl enter" into it. It has a private IP. This all ties in with it being a virtual CT and is the VZ Agent component. DO NOT ASSUME I'M RIGHT.
If it is the PVA Management node that's gone (CT50) then I think http://kb.parallels.com/113072
My guess is the worst that can happen if you re-install VZAgent and it didn't need to be reinstalled is that you may need to re-add that HN to your VZA Management Console(s) if that HN no longer gets listed. (THIS IS A GUESS)

Re: Missing Virtuozzo PVAgent and Node
No.
CT50 is what I would call the Management Console where you login to a GUI to control container if your license allows you to. I think you only need one of these. You don't need one on all HNs. It is the web equivalent of the "PMC" application running on your local PC. You add various HNs to this Management Console.
In order to add an HN to the Management Console, wherever it might be running, that HA needs to have the PVA Agent installed and running. This allows the HN to be controlled by the Management Console.
In VZ4 and earlier, CT1 (I think it was CT1 anyway) was the Service Container. The Service Container used to be what ran Power Panel and also PIM, the predecessor to what I'm calling the Management Console.
But in VZ 4.6 and later, *when PVA Agent is installed* CT1 does nothing other than do some redirection. See http://kb.parallels.com/en/6965
There's actually three services running in my CT1s. One is "init" just like in the KB. The other two are just kthreadd and khelper and these are to be expected in Centos 6.
I think this redirection being mentioned is related to the Power Panel and stuff. I'm not sure where it redirects to - the Agent, or CT50. It doesn't matter though.
So I think re-installing the Agent will fix this problem of the deleted CT1 - I would imagine it will recreate it. I really don't think it will do any harm one way or another.

Re: Missing Virtuozzo PVAgent and Node
p.s. I'm now starting to think it might be necessary to follow http://kb.parallels.com/113072 if http://kb.parallels.com/113071 does not do the job. My thinking is that the job CT1 does - redirecting 8443 etc - is related to offline management, which isn't something I'd expect the PVA Agent to do by istelf.
But I'd much prefer it is someone who actually knew what they were talking about would comment on all this. I really don't have experience with recreating CT1 so I don't know for sure.
