Can't upgrade Plesk 9.5.4 -> 10.1.1 with PHP 5.2 installed

Unread post by breun »

I wanted to test the upgrade from Plesk 9.5.4 to 10.1.1 today. This server has the PHP 5.2.17 packages from the atomic channel installed.

The first thing I noticed that you cannot uncheck the SiteBuilder option in the autoinstaller, because apparently the Plesk 10 base packages depend on SiteBuilder. Ok, it doesn't make sense to me to make SiteBuilder an option then, but I just decided to roll with it and see where I'd end up. The upgrade then went resolving all dependencies and exited with the following error message:

If I'm reading this correctly then I believe Plesk 10.1.1 requires SiteBuilder, which requires the php5-ioncube-loader package from Plesk, which in turn requires 'php < 5.2.0', so I can't upgrade to Plesk 10.1.1 on a server which has PHP 5.2 installed.

Anyone else ran into this? Anyone know if it's possible to install Plesk 10.1.1 without SiteBuilder (we couldn't care less about SiteBuilder)?

Apparently this is a known problem and Parallels is working on a fix: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=108052

I saw that one too, not much we can do about it from this side until they drop that dependency. To make it worse, last time I checked they didnt have any of their sitebuilder packages in the parallels yum repo.

I suggested they make SiteBuilder completely optional again: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=108210
