Interrupts and Context switches gone through the roof

I noticed in Munin that the graph for Interrupts and Context Switches shot up from an average of 10K to 20K to around 80K and then Munin stopped reporting the stats for Interrupts and Context Switches. Any idea what would cause this or how to troubleshoot?
This is on a CentOS box with Plesk 10.2 (MediaTemple DV 4.0).
