Upgrading PHP 5.3 for Plesk 9.3

I was sent to

http://www.atomicorp.com/wiki/index.php/Mysql is the crucial MySQL stuff (comment out the bdb line)

For insstruction on installing the upgrades. PHP failed with Zend errors that were not mentioned. I'm a rookie. I need A, B, C's. Other depo errors not mentioned.
