CentOS 7.5 + OpenVAS = Much Sorrow

Clean installation of CentOS 7.5
Followed procedure to install OpenVAS on said VM (atomicorp repo)
Reboot, lose access to host.
Inspection reveals the network interface won't come up.
Determine that the symlink for /etc/init.d -> /etc/rc.d/init.d has been removed.
No other software installed.
Repeat procedure and same result.
Something is breaking the symlink and rendering the system inaccessible via network.
