Project Gamera: spamd running at ~100% CPU

We have a box running Project Gamera with qmail-scanner, ClamAV and SpamAssassin and we use it a backup MX for a couple of Plesk servers. I frequently find a spamd process running at ~100% cpu for a long. I can kill that process of course, but would like to fix this. Any ideas on where to start looking? I never see spamd processes running at 100% cpu on our Plesk machines.

Should I take this to the SpamAssassin guys or could this be an issue with Project Gamera? The update to qmail-scanner 2.02 also didn't go too smooth: it was hanging on qmail-scanner-reconfigure. Right now I still can't use qmail-scanner-reconfigure, because it will hang again. The qmail-scanner is actually still identifying itself as 2.01 according to the mail headers.

The qmail-scanner upgrade did work fine on our Plesk boxes.
