Trouble installing qmail-scanner on Fed 7

Unread post by bill.damage »

I've had a Fed 4 / Plesk 8.6 serv er for some time and followed the instructions here http://www.teratechnologies.net/steveka ... 123-204040 to sucessfully install qmail-scanner.

I now have a new Fed 7 server and tried the same instructions but can't even get started - I've missed how to add the fed 7 repos, it seems to stop at fed 6 support! Can anyone give me a clue please? Thanks.

Use the installer to set up the repository:

Code: Select all

# wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic | sh
Are you sure you want to be running a Fedora 7 server though? Fedora 7 has already reached End of Life (en Fedora 8 will too soon).

I agree with Breun!

My main webserver is Fedora 8 now and ready to roll to Fedora 9 as soon as Plesk finish Plesk 9.0 its in beta now :)

Are you with godaddy by any chance?

Well, we may agree on the fact that we don't want to run software that has reached end of life, but we apparently don't agree on whether to use Fedora at all on a production server. It's CentOS for me. :)

Looks like you have multiple Plesk repositories configured and at least one of them doesn't look right as the error URL is missing your distribution version. You might want to check out your repositories in /etc/yum.conf and/or /etc/yum.repos.d/ and check if they're ok.

You'll probably have to modify the URL's manually on FC7 in the atomic.repo file:

It looks like the maildrop package for Fedora 7 needs to be fixed by Scott.

Eek! So that the only way I can install Spamassassin on Fed 7 via yum? Doesn't seem that obscure a combination.

Apparently not a lot of other people are using qmail-scanner on Fedora 7. Since Fedora 7 reached end of life, that might be a good thing though.

I too have Plesk 8.6 serv on fc7 and are looking at ways to get spamassassin to function.

The following SA packages are installed on my serv.

spamassassin 3.2.4-1.fc7
psa-spamassassin 8.6.0-fc7.build86080722.00
claws-mail-plugins-spamassassin 3.4.0-1.fc7

Have you had any further luck bill.damage installing Atomic?

Nope - everyone keeps telling me Fed7 is not supported anymore. I have no choice - someone wanna tell my hosters ? http://www.amenworld.com/static/linux_os.html

If you were to fix this manually, i.e. the old RPM way, where would you start?
