AOOI - Plesk 9.2.2 key

Unread post by jholzy »

I have a new 1and1 Root server that I have run the AOOI on but haven't rebooted yet. At the end of the script it reminded me to back up the Plesk license key (thanks!) located at /etc/psa but there is no .key file there and the directory key.d is empty:
$ ls -al
total 40
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Aug 29 01:23 ./
drwxr-xr-x 64 root root 4096 Aug 30 00:43 ../
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 14 08:02 key.d/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2472 Aug 29 02:04 psa.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2463 Aug 29 02:04 psa.conf.bak
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2462 Aug 29 01:15 psa.conf.default
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2389 Feb 9 2009 psa.conf.old
-rw------- 1 psaadm psaadm 13 Aug 29 01:20 .psa.shadow
drwxr-xr-x 2 root popuser 4096 Jul 14 08:02 spf/
drwxr-xr-x 5 root popuser 4096 Aug 29 01:35 webmail/

Searching with find and locate turned up empty. Can you tell me where are they hiding the license key these days? Will Plesk simply let me upload a text file with the PLSK.00000000.0000 key number in it?

Thanks

i think you have to run the wizard steps from plesk when you run/configure the server for the first time after a clean 1and1 installation.
After that the key file will be generated.
After that use AOOI.

I assume you mean running the "Retrieve Keys" located at Plesk Admin: Home > License Management > Retrieve Keys - This has already been done and Plesk is a fully functional and licensed version. I'm just not finding a file that contains .key I.E., psa.key or *.key for that matter. I wonder if 1and1 has hacked the location or name of this file now. I wouldn't put it pass them! :(

maybe you can try for export:
/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/keymng --fetch > keyfile

and for import after new installation:
/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/keymng --install --source-file='<key file path>'

EDIT: Ok, i have realized that this commands are deprecated.
this solution should help you out:
