Fresh CentOS Server & Plesk 9.5.2 Yum Options

Unread post by JnascECSI »

So i got my new centos server up and running with Plesk 9.5.2. I yummed it using the default repo's from centos first then updated plesk to the current using plesk's updater. Now i added the atomic repo and atomic plesk repo for updates.

Now before i run yum my concern is what to update first, Should i do Mysql 5.1 first and all by itself or yum all and exclude Mysql first? My concern is that when i run yum upgrade it's going to go for everything and i don't want to hose this new box somehow. Considering the process to go from mysql 5.0 to 5.1 i did'nt know if it would be a safe idea like i mentioned to yum everything and exclude mysql for the last thing to do.

Any help or advice would be awesome.

I would run php first (excluded mysql) and in second step mysql.
Take a look at the wiki for updating mysql

Thanks Bruce,

I did it that way and everything went fine with no issues except only one i have right now before i install ASL is that the art version of proftpd is not installing when running yum upgrade psa-proftpd. i even enabled the testing repo by doing yum --enablerepo=testing upgrade psa-proftpd and it came back no packages marked for update.

My grep output shows as but it won't upgrade it to art version.....

[xxxxxx@ecs2 ~]# rpm -qa | grep proftp
psa-proftpd-xinetd-1.3.2e-cos5.build95100504.12
psa-proftpd-1.3.2e-cos5.build95100504.12
