What is the VERSION file in /channels/rules/ for?

Unread post by JamesOakley »

I hope this is a really easy question - I've not found the answer anywhere in the wiki or FAQ.

The wiki page on downloading the rules says to use http://updates.atomicorp.com/channels/r ... on/VERSION to work out the latest version of the rules to download.

Browing through updates.atomicorp.com, however, I noticed that there is also a file http://updates.atomicorp.com/channels/rules/VERSION (one folder higher up the hierarchy).

These two VERSION files contain different values.

The easy course of action is to follow the instructions in the wiki, and use http://updates.atomicorp.com/channels/r ... on/VERSION.

However the existence of two distinct VERSION files leaves a nagging doubt as to whether I'm doing it right. What is http://updates.atomicorp.com/channels/rules/VERSION for? Which is the correct VERSION file to check, and why are there two?

Thank you for the question. That VERSION file is only used by ASL.
