Guys,
I need help. Our server admin is on vacation (We're in Michigan and he takes the entire month of Feb and goes to Florida, Carribean etc) and is not reachable. Our server ( a 1&1 root 1 - older version) went down Tuesday at about 11:00 am. The 1&1 tech support people have been close to worthless in getting things resolved. Now after emailing everyone I could find last night (including the German CEO) I get an email from a tech person saying it's booted in rescue mode and the last line of the boot output is:
freeing unused kernel memory: 132k
The next paragraph indicates that since the server is running and it's an OS problem they consider it resolved. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Anyway, upon looking up things, I realize that it's a boot up problem in that it's looking for RH9 and I think it's FC2. The only major updates were via ART's files I believe.
Can anyone help? I will compensate within reason.
Thanks
Howard J. Brubaker

That could be a drive going bad or something like that. Freeing unused kernel memory happens before the disks are detected. You can shoot a message to support@atomicorp.com and we can get someone to take a look at it. Timing wise we're pretty booked today, but we might be able to get someone to look at it tomorrow.
