I would just try to force a reinstall from the rpm.
rpm --force -Uvh psa-qmail
Where psa-qmail is the complete path to your psa-qmail rpm. I have had to do this before and there was no problem with the accounts

yeah, after 10h half a hour ago, i tried this :)

then again, install qmail-scanner and... phew, now qmail is back up and working. but SA, plesk show me SA is up and running, but even after a qmail-scanner-reconfigure the mailheaders dont show the SA check.

enough for today, thanks a lot for your tips :)

Hey Scott,

I attempted to install qmail-scanner again and this time it also downloaded a whole bunch of clamav updates, once this was done all mails seem to be going through without any problems and qmail-scanner is correctly parsing them through to spamassassin and they are getting picked up, this seems to be the only change.

another thing i noted is the /var/spool/qmailscanner folder is not where the qmail-queue log lives anymore but in nthe qscan/ folder, its showing the following which I have not seen before,
{} ;
Wed, 12 Jul 2006 17:40:20 BST:6334: +++ starting debugging for process 6334 (ppid=5191) by uid=10012
Wed, 12 Jul 2006 17:40:20 BST:6334: s_q: re-create the quarantine version file
Wed, 12 Jul 2006 17:40:20 BST:6334: s_q: cleaning up files older than 2 days via /usr/bin/find /var/spool/qscan/tmp -mtime +2 -exec //bin/rm -rf {} ;
Wed, 12 Jul 2006 17:40:20 BST:6334: s_q: cleaning up quarantined mail older than 14 days via /usr/bin/find /var/spool/qscan/quarantine -type f -mtime +14 -exec //bin/rm -rf {} ;
apart from that everything seems to be back to normal, not sure what you changed but it seems to all work again!

Thnks

wow, now thats a good error. Did you get that with the older versions of the package? Do you have any CPAN modules on the box?

okie among other things going wrong! i decided it was time I moved up to RHEL4, which I have gone and done, a complete reinstall of the OS with PSA7.5, installed yum again and everything else is working perfectly! everything else apart from qmail-scanner!

As for your questions earlier on RHEL3, I did not get the errors on older versions and as far as I can remember did not have any CPAN modules installed.

When I attempt to install it using the yum channels I get the following error,
[root@artemis ~]# yum install qmail-scanner

is psa-spamassassin running on the box? Try shutting it down if it is, and rerun qmail-scanner-reconfigure
