I just spent 2.5 hours with Scott on IM debugging this. Our conclusion is that the --with-eaccelerator-doc-comment-inclusion flag for php-eaccelerator (requested in http://www.atomicorp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3868 ) is the cause of this. Builds without that flag don't segfault.

I thought all the problems were down to the '--with-eaccelerator-doc-comment-inclusion' flag which was added to the build and not the '--with-eaccelerator-content-caching' flag I wanted which didn't make it.

It's working fine for me for on quite a number of servers. But in the eaccelerator thread BruceLee says he does still have segfaults and that the build needs an extra patch.

Server overload

Not sure if I have the same. I've had fairly constant problems since a recent yum upgrade. This morning, server speed was really slow with loads of processes like:
but then about one hour later, it all ground to a halt again - so slow that we were not even able to see what processes were there, so we had to manually reboot again.
Do you think that removing eaccelerator will fix this? Or does anyone else have any other suggestion?

but then about one hour later, it all ground to a halt again - so slow that we were not even able to see what processes were there, so we had to manually reboot again.
Do you think that removing eaccelerator will fix this? Or does anyone else have any other suggestion?
