Advice on using Fedora with Plesk

Right now I run RHEL 3 ES with Plesk 8.

I need more than one webserver, and I would like to start using Virtuozzo as well, plus make separate MySQL machines.

Is there any reason that I can't use Fedora - any argument why I should pay for ES 4 for each machine? I run a web hosting business and I started with RH 9, but then moved to ES 3, but now that I need more than one machine, I can't afford to shell out a ton of cash for licencing when I can't recover the cost.

Any suggestions?

FC's are good if you're looking for the latest features, the down side is that they have a shorter life cycle, about 2 years. FC4 will go into Fedora legacy soon, once FC6 is out (in october). CentOS4/RHEL4 are pretty modern, and are comparible to FC4 in terms of packages (exception, FC4 comes with php 5), with a 5 year support cycle.

At this point I'm looking for stability, I want to build a couple servers that I can run yum or up2date on once a week and not worry about conflicts, crashing, etc. The server I'm running now has been upgraded and patched to hell (and still runs amazingly enough). It's been through at least 6 Plesk upgrades, and I've learned alot since I started using Plesk and coming here, but it's time to split the load up and go into a little more "controlled" methods of patching/upgrading, etc.

I'd say: go with CentOS 4 then.

How much different is it from Redhat? Keep in mind that Redhat is the only linux build I'm familar with so far.

CentOS is RHEL with the branding removed.

It's like they say on the 'About CentOS' page:
CentOS-4 is a freely distributable OS built from the source at:

ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/e ... i386/SRPMS
