hi,

after an art php, mysql and apache upgrade qmail has stopped working.

/etc/init.d/qmail start always fails. it doesn't give any more information than this.

My system is fedora core 3 with Plesk 8 on it.

Any ideas?

Cosmic... :)

check the /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog, and /var/log/messages to see if there is any deeper details on whats going on.

Hi Scott,

In the /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog It says:

Dec 3 05:34:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14099]: starter: submitter[14100] with error code 62
Dec 3 05:34:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14099]: mailsend: wait for submitter failed
Dec 3 05:34:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14099]: cannot reinject message to mail system
Dec 3 06:04:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14240]: mail: all addreses are uncheckable - need to skip scanning (by deny mode)
Dec 3 06:04:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14240]: scan: the message(drweb.tmp.ptDz10) sent by anonymous@sp1.cosmicfantasia.net to drweb@sp1.cosmicfantasia.net should be passed without checks, because contains uncheckable addresses
Dec 3 06:04:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14240]: files: write buf 0xbf84eee0[640] to fd (5) error - (32) Broken pipe
Dec 3 06:04:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14240]: files: cannot write chuck from 4 to 5 - (32) Broken pipe
Dec 3 06:04:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14240]: files: cannot write file /var/drweb/spool/drweb.tmp.ptDz10 to 5
Dec 3 06:04:11 sp1 qmail-queue[14240]: mailsend: cannot write message from file to submitter /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue.origin

In the var/log/messages it only gets the following when trying to start qmail.

Dec 4 00:40:07 sp1 qmail: Starting qmail: failed

Thanks for your assistance and packages.

Yeah thats something in drweb breaking there. I dont really know much about it to be honest, but try reinstalling it, my gut feeling is that its a permissions problem and that should reset the permissions to what they were originally.

thanks scott
