Joomla 1.08 won´t work correctly under Plesk 8.1

Unread post by eagleone »

First I wan´t to say that I´m very glade that you has made this rpm of Joomla for Plesk. I think it´s almost the only on the web.

But I had some trouble with it.
I´ve a Suse 10 Rootserver from "Schlund" (a Provider from Germany) an on it is Plesk 8.1 running.

I´ve installed your "testing" Package through the shell connect and everything looks fine.

But when I try to install Joomla on a Domain ( using Plesk Application Vault )
then I always get the following Error:

Site application tried to create a database without specifying a requirement in meta data XML

0: /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/SiteApps/class.SiteAppManager.php:354
SiteAppManager->createResource(object of type SiteApp, array, string 'domain', integer '561')
1: /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/SiteApps/class.SiteAppPackageManager.php:601
SiteAppPackageManager->installSiteApp(object of type SiteAppPackage, string 'domain', integer '561', integer '2', array, array, array)
2: /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/siteapp/siteapp_install.php:170

I only found an Entry from this Guy:
http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php? ... tid=140091
wich have the same Problem.

But nobody has answered.

I Hope you can help me.

After that it would be very interesting how I can update the Joomla Version in the Apllication Vault, because of the many security holes wich where found and wcih are fixed even in Version Joomla 1.12

I think it will be very interesting for lots of People to get an uptodate Version.

By the way I´ve talked today with a Guy from SWsoft who told me that they will bring Joomla to the Cebit into the Apllication Vault Package.
But it´s secret and not offical.

So we can hope.

But it takes also a lot of time if Swsoft updates their Packages. I´ve a Mambo Version 4.53 a newest but their is 4.6 available.

Thank you for your help.

friendly greetings,
eagleone

Part of the problem might be that it was designed for Red Hat/Fedora systems.

Hello Scott,
I´m Using your Package Joomla-1.0.7-2.noarch.rpm on my old Server with Plesk 7.5 over Jears and without any Trouble.

To the Beginning of the Jear 2007 we have changed our Server to a new Server with the following Features:

Plesk-Version: psa v8.1.0_build81070224.19 os_SuSE 9.3
Betriebssystem: Linux 2.6.17.8-061216a
CPU: AuthenticAMD, AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 148

And this Komponents are installed:

bind 9.3.1-3.5
courier-imap 3.0.8-suse9.3.build81061129.22
frontpage 5.0-72psa.suse9.3
httpd 2.0.53-9.15
mailman 2.1.5-16.8
mod_perl 2.0.0-4
mod_python 3.1.3-42
mysql 4.1.10a-3.8
perl-Apache-ASP 2.57-suse9.3.build81061129.22
php 4.3.10-14.32
postgresql-server 8.0.8-0.4
psa 8.1.0-suse9.3.build81061129.22
psa-api-rpc 8.1.0-suse9.3.build81061226.14
psa-autoinstaller 3.1.0-build31061201.02
psa-backup-manager 8.1.0-suse9.3.build81061226.14
psa-horde 3.1.3-suse9.3.build81070201.15
psa-imp 4.1.3-suse9.3.build81061129.22
psa-logrotate 3.7-suse9.3.build81061129.22
psa-turba 2.1.3-suse9.3.build81061129.22

And it´s maybe interesting that the installing path was changed from the old Server: home\xxx\vhosts\(User-Domain)
to the new Server: srv\www\vhosts\(User-Domain)

Both Server where Running with Suse Linux.

And I´ve allready tried every Version you can find on Web.
Thats surely your Versions in the offical Download Area 1.071 an 1.072 ans also your Version from the Testing Area 1.081

And I´ve found a Version 1.031 and 1.032 on the SWSoft Board:
http://developer.joomla.org/sf/projects ... _for_plesk

And I also followed the Links through Mandrake, ARK and other RPM Archives, but nothing Works.

I´ve allways loaded the RPM Files up to my Server and installed the RPMs through the Shell. I never get any Errors on the Shell.

In Joomla it looks also Fine, but when I try to install Joomla through the Application Vault of my Plesk 8.1, I first can fill out everything in the Formular, like DB-Name and Admin an Editor Users and when everything is complete i get the Error I´ve posted on Top.

It´s very importend for me to get this problem fixed very soon, because
I´m runnig out of time with my Projects.
I´ve got to install 3 new Pages for new Customers an I can´t get even one Fu##ing Joomla Version on my Plesk.

I mean it´s quit not comftable to work with the old 1.072 Joomla because I ever had to copy the newest Joomla Version over it, but it works.

Scott if whe get fix this I would like to offer you a little support building new Joomla Versions. My Partner is a real Linux Crack, creating RPMs he is really used to it. The only Problem is that he don´t speak good english (yes more worse than my English :-)).
But we will do that together with a little Guidance of you ore the Guy who made the last RPMs.
We would also give German Support on it and can let ist be downloaded from our Server to. (If it´s ok to you).

If we get here an solution it will help many People I´ve read about while my searching into Web the last weeks.

Thanks a lot.

well, we all code in english. Maybe he can start there. If hes got .spec files I can take a look at them. I just don't have any resources (time or servers) to do development on SuSE.

Hallo Scott you probably misundertud me,
my first intention is to get an actual Joomla Package for Plesk 8.1.

My offer to start helping you to update new Versions of Joomla in the Future is additional to that.

I´m not quite sure if we just have a Redhat / Fedora Core versus Suse Problem here because your Package 1.072 works on every Machine using Plesk 7.x.

I think the Problems starts with the new Plesk Version 8.x.

It is maybe good to collect some more data from different Machines.

So if anybody have the same or almost simmilar Problems just write your Problem and your Linux Distribution with Version and every installed Package like I´ve did. I think it will be interesting especially to know the PHP, the Apache and the mySQL Version.
The Plesk Version ist also very importand.
and last but not least it is maybe interesting to know the Installation Path of the Vhosts and the PHP,Apache, mysql an Plesk Version.

I think it´s time to make an End to the long Journey for many of Server Admins wich has started with the Splitting of the Mambo an Joomla Project.

Without Scotts Page we all stud very small, because it´s the only RPM on the hole Web or maybe the most actual Package.

To say it again clear, i will spend a little time and as much Webspace an Traffic on our Server even to get an actual Joomla Version 1.12 and maybe some People are interested in the 1.5 Beta Version.

Dear Scott if it´s interesting to you we can maybe be a Mirror for your Plesk Channel.

I hope we get this running.

Friendly Greatings from Berlin - Germany

Hallo again,
I´m still hoping and waiting that anybody is answering to my Posting. I know that lots of People, running Plesk 8.1 are desperatly looking for an working Joomla Application Vault Package.

And again I would put it on my Website for Everybody to Download. My Partner with lots of Webserver and Linux Experience would make a new RPM for our Schlund / 1und1 Suse 9.3 Server if only somebody give us a hint or some more imformation what is different between the PLesk 7.x to PLesk 8.x that the good old Atomicturtle Package 1.07 won´t work on the new Machines.
Is it only a Suse Problem ??
Are their a Path Problem ??
Is it because of that in the past the Vhost ar laying under \home\httpd\vhosts and now under \srv\www\vhosts ???

I hope someone can help us.

AFAIK it's not working for you, because ART only has CentOS/Fedora/Red Hat packages. The application vault packages are not created by ART, they come straight from SWsoft. Why not get the SuSE package directly from SWsoft yourself?
