MYSQL 3.23.58. to 4.1 on Redhat Enterprise 3 (solved)

I am looking for a proven method to upgrade MYSQL from 3.23.58
The YUM method seems to work well with Fedora, but I am not sure from some of the forum messages if that is the best way for ES3.
I am running PLESK 8.1 as well.
