questions....

Unread post by npavlidis »

1) i run yum update today and i got these packages to be updated:
php-gd-5.2.2-2.el4.art.i3
php-imap-5.2.2-2.el4.art.
php-mbstring-5.2.2-2.el4.
php-pear-1.5.0-5.el4.art.
mysql-server-5.0.27-1.el4
php-5.2.2-2.el4.art.i386.
mysql-5.0.27-1.el4.art.i3
php-xml-5.2.2-2.el4.art.i
php-mysql-5.2.2-2.el4.art

and the following errors:
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is needed by package php-mysql
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is needed by package perl-DBD-MySQL
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is needed by package psa
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is needed by package psa-courier-imap-add
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is needed by package psa-qmail
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14(libmysqlclient_14) is needed by package php-mysql
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is needed by package psa-hotfix3

except the obvious error related question, I am using mysql 4.1.x so far and my clients build their websites based on that (joomla - wordpess or even custom dynamic websites)
Isnt there going to be a compatibility problem with me upgrading to mysql 5.x and php 5.2.x?

2) about the recent release of mod_security 1.9.4-3 why maintain 2 versions of the same package if they are both on bleeding(possibly unstable)?

Thanks :)

1.9.4 is going away in the ASL 2.0 release. Unfortunately a lot of the innovations mike came up with for the 1.8 and 1.9 packages, we havent managed to duplicate in 2.0 or 2.1 yet because of some of the design changes breach made. Shunning for example, which is critical, and a really amazing performance trick he worked out in the 1.9 packages. We're close though, stay tuned!
