I have an old box over at 1and1 that is ready to be decommissioned. Anyone have a suggestion/script/tool that would securely wipe the disk? I don't have anything really sensitive on it, but I'd hate for the next guy to start practicing their mad forensic skillz.

DBAN is my usual weapon of choice, but it is not applicable with 1and1's setup as far as I know.

Boot into the rescue disk,

dd if=/dev/random of=<path to device>

Do that 11 times.

I'm ashamed to admit that using the rescue disk that way never occurred to me. Thanks!

And thats why I wont do two shows in one night any more.... I just wont do it.
