messed up yum

i seem to have messed up yum and its now not working. After trying to install again i get following error when running yum:
/usr/bin/yum: No such file or directory
yum.conf and the repos file don't appear anywhere either.
running FC6 on a plesk server

Are you on a VPS or dedicated box? What distro? What have you tried to install again? Is yum installed at all? What does 'rpm -q yum' say?

rpm -q gives:
package yum is not installed
dedicated box running Fedora core 6.
where would i get yum?

The latest version is here:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/f ... noarch.rpm
(You might need some dependencies as well. Check for those at
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/f ... es/6/i386/ or
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/f ... dora/RPMS/ if they're not in the updates dir. Replace i386 with your arch if you're not on 32-bit x86.)

thanks very much, downloaded and installed okay, but yum.conf file hasn't appeared at all. Any ideas?

Man, what did you do? What does 'rpm -V yum' say?
