Hello,
I've been looking for a good Linuxbased solution to have the same type of serivces as M$ Exchange: having email (POP, IMAP) agenda, file sharing etc.

So far i've sumbled on to candidates: Open-Xchange and Scalix. Both promis te same type of services and Open-Xchange even provides a hosted service.

At the moment I haven't tested either one of them and I tried to get some technical background information on these systems, like what MTA is used etc. But they both seem very 'closed' when it comes to that.

Has anyone have any hands on experience with these solutions or knows a better/good solution he/she recommends?

Why not try out google apps?

IMHO are google apps is nice for private persons, but this is for a medium ize corporation (maybe even corporations (plural) and it needs to be private and secure. And i don't think i've to mention that using google applications is -not- private.

Ive played around with some of these in the past, as I remember a lot of the calendaring, etc was only web based without any way to directly integrate it with Outlook. You could get it to integrate if you were running Evolution and the openexchange plugin. That was the bad news... the good news is that Evolution has been ported to Windows:

Its possible that the MS Exchange server replacements have gotten to the point that you can use them as a drop in replacement, which would be fantastic.

MTA wise, I recall openexchange being completely neutral, you could use postfix, qmail, exim, sendmail.
