joomla question

Scott,

We have got several domains on the server. We wanted to run a central sql for joomla, but have say 4 websites running of the same database. Can each domain have its own content and share some common stuff all together using one joomla database?

1 - Either each domain would have to have its own joomla installed, but use a single database.

2 - Use one domain and one database and somehow the urls are picked up returning what looks like separate joomla's but can have some unique content like the name of the domain and some unique data. This would be preferred as less to administer!

I don't know if it natively would let you do that. The source code is all there, so even if it doesn't you could modify it. I'd check around joomlaforge and their forums to see if anyone has worked on mass-hosting or clustering configurations.
