Hello,
Is it possible using the atomic plesk repo to upgrade a server running plesk 7.5.4 to 8.2? Reason I ask is becuase we have servers hosted at rackspace, and they state for them to do the upgrade it will require going from 7.5.4 to 8.0 to 8.1 to 8.2, and will require 4 hours of down time (which we cannot have). This I don't get as I have never had downtime updating plesk servers... also, I don't want to go to 8.3 yet, becuase rackspace does not support it. Thanks for any input.

Yeah, the people at The Planet can be screwy about downtime sometimes.

First, I would make certain that the license they have for you is still valid for upgrades. Unlike some hosts they buy their licenses and don't lease. Shouldn't take long for you to find out if you can upgrade still.

Second, I don't see why the yum update wouldn't work but I've not tried it across a major version release (7.5.4 > 8.3 is a big jump). As an alternative you can also use the update tool inside Plesk (Server > Updater) since it will definitely make the jump. The major difference in the two paths is that the Plesk updater will take the server down for upwards of 45 mins (depending how many domains you have) and you get no progress updates whereas yum takes it down for 5-15 mins for the same amount (while it updates the psa package) and you watch it as it works.

As an FYI, anytime you update Plesk you need to be prepared for Apache to be shut off during the update.

Yeah Ive done 7.5.4 to 8.3 through yum before. Its just time consuming, otherwise its not a big deal.
