What else stops web access??

Was wondering why I have a large forum that normally gets 4 or 5 new members a day.
But over the last few weeks nothing...
Then.. I found the cause.... I used a firends computer and I could not access ANY website on my server.. yet I had friends at other locations that were viewing them fine at the same time.
The tech support from ThePlanet has pretty much disabled everything.. but I STILL can not gain access to any sites.
What else within ASL would be blocking it???
Here is what has been stopped so far....

Dear Paul,

I have verified that IPTables is stopped, and have also disabled asl-firewall and DenyHosts. Are you now able to access the aforementioned domains?

Even after that.. I cant gain access to any sites. I am guessing many others are in the same boat which explains why I have not had any new members.

It would help to know what kind of error you are getting when trying to access the site. Could it be a DNS problem? If your ISP caches DNS entries for an unusually long time, you could have a DNS problem on your server that you personally may not notice for a while.

yeah that screams DNS to me, one way to rule it out would be to test getting to it with the name from some system you know is having a problem, and then try getting to it using the IP. If the IP works, you'll know its DNS

Roomeat,

Did a little check at DNS stuff on your site (ozsportsbikes.com). Seems you have an open DNS Server which has the potential of being blasted by spammers as well as being blacklisted. Don't know if it is related to the DNS issues you mention in particular but it is something that should be corrected.

Cheers

lol I hope you ran that test with a paid account.. because the "FREE" test shows the same results for any domain.. including atomicrocketturtle.com ;)

And it wasn't DNS.. I ended up shutting down my PC and internet connetion and restarting all.. this gave me a new IP address and I was then able to connect to the sites.
So it is still something in the firewall / ASL that is blocking normal users.

Yes, I do have a paid account at DNS Stuff and ART doesn't show an open server.
