I have plesk 9.0.1

Since my box is on 1and1 I run the aooi. Backed up the entire /etc and before the format There was no file on /etc/psa/psa.key as it said in the message.

Now my box is up but wont retrieve the key like in the before.

Off course I kept a full backup of the /etc before doing anything.

Searched the files but didnt find a psa.key

Any idea on how to recover my licence key in plesk ?

Did you try a locate on psa.key?

If you don't have a copy somewhere the only option is to use the 1and1 reimager to reimage your box with a 1and1 image, find your psa.key file and back it up, then go back to AOOI.

In the backup file the server has created i untared it and found 2 plesk keys.
Allthough there was no key in my by hand backup in /var or /etc. or at least not as psa.key.
And have no idea what to do with those 2 as well.

Where are stored in plesk 9 the keys ? path I mean ...
Also is there anything weird that once again 1and1 does in plesk different than the world and I didnt find the keys under /etc or .var ?

Dear Scott.

In my plesk under /etc/psa there is no psa.key !!!

A plesk 9 thing probably ?

Ok. Found the Solution so if it ever occurs to you you do the same thing.

When you run the plesk backup it also backsup the keys.

When you untar it they will appear as : keyxxxxxxxxx.gz

untar gunzip the file tar -zxvf keyxxxxxxxxx.gz

it will leave a plain file.

You copy it and upload the key through the plesk admin panel.

And thats it.

Key is installed and plesk is ready to use.

:)

On my new 1and1 server there where no psa.key file either.
I found another way to get my key for a clean installation.

under /etc/sw/keys you will find a directory/file structure that you have to backup.
Take care that the license has not expired.
