Hi all.

I have a new hosting and it's become with Plesk 9.3

When i try to install atomic packages, i have two choices: Plesk 8 / Plesk 9.2

Is any way to install it into Plesk 9.3 or i will have problems if i select 9.2 into install?

In the other hand, i see scott sell ASL, but i'm not sure what is it.

My "few" questions about it:

- I have a dedicated with Centos 5, Plesk 9.3; can i install ASL into it? (i think yes)
- I will lost any data into my dedicated at first time? (i think no)
- Is like a SSOO or as application? (i think application)
- It have Spamassassin / ClamAv support?
- The management of dedicated will be with Plesk 9.3 or ASL?

Thanks.

If you install the atomic repo it will ask if you want to enable the Plesk repo as well. Select version 9.

Code: Select all

wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic.sh | sh
I don't know when the repo will have 9.3 added but remember that 9.3 just rolled out yesterday. If I were you I wouldn't go to 9.3 just yet. Plesk is notorious for having issues on new major and minor versions. I'd wait until at least 9.3.1 unless you don't care about having to workaround new issues they've introduced.

ASL is a security suite designed for web application hosting environments. Among other things it implements controls required by PCI DSS.

It supports clamav, and we've always worked with spamassassin since day 1 of the repo, so you shouldnt have any trouble with Plesk 9.3 and ASL.

Thanks for the answers.

About Plesk 9.3: The server is online since yesterday, and today i update all components (including plesk) and no knowing when 9.3 was released :x .It's my fault, but now i need to use 9.3 yes or yes.

Not sure about ASL. Is like a "shield" for the server? I can manage spamassassin with ASL? I supose to use GUI it needs to work with another port than 80 or 8443, not?

Maybe the best way to know about it is to use a demo, have you an online demo for testing it?

Thanks.

If 9.3 is installed and working then, as my mother used to say, it's not broken so don't fix it. Seriously, I fiddle with Plesk the absolute minimum I have to.

Spamassassin is separate from ASL and free to use. Installing the Atomic repo will let you install the current version. If you're using qmail as your MTA you can also install clamav and qmail-scanner. If you're using Postfix I think you need clapf but I don't know if that's in the stable channel or not.

Code: Select all

#yum install spamassassin clamav clamd qmail-scanner
#qmail-scanner-reconfigure
ASL secures your server. It runs some security programs and installs mod_security, which sits inside Apache to monitor for bad requests.

Plesk for Linux 9.3 was just released this week (today even?), so that's probably why the atomic installer still says 9.2.

The 9.3 repo is up, using the plesk maintained servers for now. You'd just run the atomic installer again to configure it to use their repositories.

I find it very interesting. If I make a pending deal was hired to ensure the server. For now we do it by hand, hopefully not too late.
