Qmail ssl issues

Well, it was that time of year again where I have to update my SSL certificates. I cheaped out and got one from Godaddy, but Qmail doesn't like it one bit - it closes the connection attempt without even writing anything to maillog. At a guess it is the new key being 2048 vs. 1024. Am I correct? Putting the old cert back in makes it work again, and yes I did restart qmail and xinetd after each switch. Any insight out there?
