Fighting with Centos 5.5 and Plesk install

I just can't seem to get 9.2.1 to install on CentOS 5.5. First, I have to baby it through getting all the prerequisites by installing them as needed to get psa and psa-base to install. Once I get that far, I run the parallels_installer.

If does the install and says it is finished.

I do

service psa stop
service psa start

and I get:

Starting xinetd service... done
Starting named service... done
Starting mysqld service... done
Starting postgresql service... done
Starting psa-spamassassin service... not installed
Plesk: Starting Mail Server... already started
Starting mail handlers tmpfs storage
Starting Plesk... failed
Starting drwebd service... failed

My server has been down now for several days and I feel like an idiot. This after running plesk for 10 years and Linux even longer.

I'm stuck. Can someone throw me a fish?

Questions:

Is 9.2.1 compatible with Centos 5.5? (it appears to be, the autoinstaller allows me to select it)

The first thing that failed on my Centos 4.x install was the admin panel. It's been dead for a couple of months. I upgraded to Centos 5.5 and Plesk consistently refused to upgrade saying that something was broken in the berkely databases in RPM. So I have formatted the drive, installed Plesk from scratch and this is what I get. None of my original data has been supplied, just a Centos 5.5 clean install and parallels_installer.

Is there a higher version I should be trying? If so, will it import the version 9.2.1 database backup?

Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Reading further down the list, I found the answer.

Thank you all. Too bad they haven't put this fix into their packages. Now, everyone who tries their product gets a broken install. How stupid is that?

add the latest plesk repo (9.5) and yum install psa* it.
This should work.

I'm only licensed to go to 9.3. I dropped my support contract after more than a decade due to what I call sloppy coding, lousy support and the general runaround when you have a problem that they created.

Now, I'm just trying to keep it going.

They should have immediately backported their fix to their online repositories that their installer script uses. Not doing so has wasted days of my time and created way too much downtime.

Many times over the past few years they have broken my install and I had to pay them for support for them to fix it. I have put an end to that. Yes, I'm more than a little bitter. I was their first paying customer with license number so low that nobody believes it's still up and running. I bought my Plesk license at Apachecon 2000 in Orlando. I would imagine that Rack Space gets good support, but I never did once they instituted the pay as you go support system. It was very good before that when I could talk to Todd or Anton. Those were the days of great tech support at Plesk. These days I rate their support as pathetic. They have done everything possible to make it impossible to talk to someone who really knows what is going on. Today when I called, I got a call center in India.

As a senior programmer/analyst for a fortune 50 company, I expect better, which is why I stopped paying. The only thing that Plesk upgrades have done for me since V5x is break things and give me things I don't use or need. I can do that for free.
