mysqlclient 5.0.90 and mysql 5.1.48 version mismatch

Unread post by freeform »

A new mysqlclient package was not released when MySQL and other related packages were upgraded to 5.1.48.

phpMyAdmin in the Plesk control panel complains about the version mismatch:
Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.90 differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.48. This may cause unpredictable behavior.
Other forum posts suggest this should not be an issue. Certainly, no dependencies failed as a result of the yum upgrade.

Still, phpinfo() reports the client API library version is 5.0.90; so, no PHP application, including Plesk's phpMyAdmin, will be able to access any new features?

If you search these forums (and elsewhere) you'll find this question is asked shortly after each major MySQL update. See: http://www.atomicorp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1793 for an explanation & solution.
