ART php-mysql with centos 5 mysql?

I've got a number of CentOS 5.5 servers running the ART php 5.2-series rpm's but we are staying with the standard CentOS mysql build. It looks like the latest php-mysql rpm's are tied to the newer ART mysql version. Is there any way around that or is the only option to run ART php and mysql? And if that is the only option, are there specific plesk versions that will not be happy about that change?
