Hello,

Is ASL supported on the 1and1 dedicated servers? It seems to have big problems with their Dynamic Cloud Servers. I've read up on the AOOI thing and don't think I fully comprehend it.

Yes, on dedicated rootservers ASL runs fine.
A virtual rootserver is not "dedicated" in my definition.
Like the product says "1and1 Dynamic Cloud Servers" runs some sort of virtualization product tweaked/changed for their needs.
I'm not sure if Atomicorp can do something here unless they want to support that kind of "closed" system env's.

A dedicated server means you have a physical hardware unit and full control. A virtual server (or cloud) is a virtualized environment where you pretend to have a dedicated box but you have no access to the common kernel all virtual boxes share.

AOOI is an installer for a "clean" CentOS 5 install. 1and1 is notorious about fiddling with their stock images and sometimes making the environment more difficult to work with than it needs to be. AOOI gives you what comes straight from CentOS, while maintaining the packages you need to still work with 1and1.

ASL mostly works with virtual environments and completely works with dedicated ones (where you could install your own kernel).

Any preference to 32 or 64 bit CentOS?

32bit is "dead" in my opinion.
