Plesk 10.1.0 and 10.1.1 Release Note

I was waiting for sooooo long for the new patches...
Offcourse I won't yet upgrade for at least 6 more months to ver 10.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x
I want to comment on what I read ...
I also noticed that now the dont have 3 digit inciments on updates but 4 ? This means patches will be so many this year ? hehehhe

Very cool :

1. Migration from cPanel. Migrate from cPanel and see you websites structure fitting perfectly the new Plesk 10 subscription/webspace model altogether with mail.
Comment : (Thank god. I had to turn down 100 people at least up till now due to that reason !)

2. Unzipping in File Manager. Upload ZIP archive and unzip it via File Manager for simpler website deployment.
Comment : (Allthough it should have been there ages ago. But still cool.)

3. External webmail services support. A third-party webmail application can be installed on the server and then made available to the customers as a webmail choice in their subscriptions.
Comment : (Thank god. I am using roundcubre which is the ultimate webmail according to me. I hated it that there wasn't such an integration and I had to create a manual button.)

4. Hideable mail functions in Control Panel. Hide native Plesk Mail controls from your customers if you provide an alternative mail service or none at all.
Comment : (And I was wondering how you remove that gery spamassasin buttons from the clients options ! haha)

5. Issue resolved for qmail: The mail sent to default@ mailbox was not rejected even if such mail account did not exist and mail to non-existent users was set up to be rejected.
Comment : (This could also turn into hell to be honest. Many use this whole without knowing and send mails from their websites. Which is really bad because the hostname is the server hostname on the mail sent. But all these php scripts now will stop functioning and all these clients will be rapidly coming to the support .....)


VERY UNCOOL (really...):

1. Issue resolved: The ftpwho utility did not show the list of active FTP sessions for ProFTPd.
Comment : (This has not functioned since plesk 9 came out ....... 2 years to fix that ? It actually took so long I thought the button was obsolete Not kiddin !)

2. It is possible to migrate data from a Parallels Panel server where SSH is configured on a custom port.
Comment : (This should have been that way since the script was written... How many admins keep the default port ? 2-3 % ?)

3. Seriously ? The automated backup is still not working in plesk 9.5.4 ... Its been 2 months now ...

4. Issue resolved for Postfix: Now Plesk strictly configures Postfix for using IPv4.
Comment : (Not only they destroyed postfix 2 years ago, but now if you are using postfix on an ipv6 network you are forced to switch to qmail...)

I don't even like to comment these .... No comments at all ...

[*] The Panel users are able to install applications encoded with ionCube.

[-] Issue resolved: The Panel did not back up mail content for suspended domains.

[-] Issue resolved: During a full server backup, all sites content was backed up twice.

[-] Issue resolved: It was impossible to rename a domain that had subdomains.


Comment : Did i mention backup doesnt work automated in 9.5.4 ? And also in one of the servers I always get failed even if it does complete and I dont even know why ?

How can it be to do anything else apart from fixing before anything else at all the backup system ? Backup is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo important. More important than almost anything else.



If we didn't have ASL to protect our servers from being hacked due to plesk or linux holes every week, we wouldn't even have backups !!!! Except from manual tar balls offcourse which doesn't actually ease the pain that much.

PS :
Did I mention automated doesn't work on 9.5.4 and has no logging on what went wrong apart from the word failed ? lol
