OK, this weekend was the last straw with what used to be The Planet, now softlayer. I need a new home!
I have only a dozen or so domains for clients and the rest for myself so I need to be sure the clients aren't impacted during a move away from softlayer. I currently have an old server.. say 7 years old with 7 or 8 IP's and 80 gigs of HD.
It's a physical server so a move to another physical or a VPS would be fine, just need the gotcha's on a migration.
Currently running latest plesk 9x fully patched, with repos from ATR for qmail, dcc, razor etc.
Any recommendations? If you are a hoster or reseller and want some business, contact me off line. Otherwise I'll take your recommendations for a new hosting company, was thinking 1&1 but will entertain others.
Thanks.

I'm curious why you're dropping them. Yes, their support has gone downhill since the SL merger, but I haven't had any major issues with them.
We moved off 1and1 years ago. If you're leaving because of bad support, 1and1 will make you beg them to take you back. I had a server go down for 60 hours because of a problem on their end. Add in that 2 of the 3 dedicated machines we had with them were unstable and I couldn't keep our mission critical stuff there anymore. Maybe they have weekend support now but the 60 hours occurred because they had nobody working the DC on the weekend.

I guess what frustrates me is their changes in policy without letting anyone know. From time to time funds won't be available for them to draft on the due date and they do give a 5 day grace period, however, they now will charge a @20 late fee the day after the payment is not auto drafted, and you have to manually go and enter payment which must then be approved by sales. No longer retried or an instant pay if you update the ticket or talk to CS via chat or phone.
I was used to calling or updating the ticket saying the payment was missed and telling them to process, no issues. No longer the case. I've been at this DC since the RackShack days and never had misc fee's added on. To me, this policy change is nuts. Not sure what else SL will implement without informing folks.
So what would have taken 3 or 5 minutes wound up taking over 30.
